Trouble deciding on mirrors (with full doors off)

I've got a 2001 TJ and this summer I plan on doing more driving with the full steel doors off. I don't have any friends with Wranglers so here I am...I don't want to break the bank but I don't want shoddy mirrors either.

What are good mirrors/relocators to use without doors?

With your 2001 TJ, the mirrors can be taken off the doors and you can get mirror relocation brackets and for 50 bucks use the same mirrors.

Go with what Stevens243 said. I got the mirror movers that use the factory mirrors on the body hinge and I love it. Can't see the passenger mirror remotely, but they are just on so I am legal with the doors off. I have the Rugged Ridge mirrors from the first post and hated them. Ugly, stick out far, and whistle at speed. I will never put them on my TJ again.

Got a question on that one. I bought a set of long stem harley mirrors on eBay. One side is perfect. The other - the threaded portion does not come through enough to get a nut on there. So I went to a friends house who has a few harleys. Looked at some old mirrors of his and same deal - the driver side was a hair too short and the passenger side was perfect. Is there a specific model that I am supposed to look at?

I got a set of mover brackets for the factory mirrors and only used the drivers side. With you're still legal with one side mirror and your center rearview, and its easy to see on the pas side with the doors and top off. Plus I can still see the pas side mirror when I need it in the winter.

Dude, buy outlaw II mirrors, they are freakin awesome. They attach to the upper hinges and look great. They are a little expensive, but they don't vibrate very much and are easy to take on and off.

I've got the Rugged Ridge mirrors. They're more for function than looks. They're not Cadillac, that's for sure, but they get the job done and are pretty nice. They do whistle at speed, but it's just a tradeoff like tire noise when running MT's. For the money, they're cheap and get the job done. When funds allow I may buy a set of the American Outlaw mirrors, but for a budget minded person you can't go wrong w/ the Rugged Ridge mirrors IMO.

DO NOT get the rugged ridges... they are worthless... i bought them at first but driving at any speed they wobble all over the place and you cant see a thing...

buy the factory mirror movers. the drivers side will work like a charm and the passenger side your gonna have to turn your head but its the best option out there.

or dont install the pass side mount and keep that mirror on the door. no states require you to have left and right rear views. I think the most strict says 2 mirrors. Hell Saturn didn't even put a pass side mirror on some models until 98.

Bought my Harley mirrors yesterday! Love them they are great! Both sides fit perfect no vibration at all on highway doing 75! Dont get that out of the stock mirrors.

Just go to a Harley dealership and ask if they have take offs!

I just bought some cheapo chrome mirrors from auto zone. I painted them with krylon fusion and mounted them on the top door hinge bracket. They look great and work well. That way I have my factory mirrors when the doors are on and I mount that one when I take the doors off.

do this and forget about it:
Jeep Doorless Budget Mirror Mount

it will cost you like $35 for both mirrors, nuts, bolts, washers.
i painted mine black because i hate the chrome look.

cheap, quick, easy.

I agree. In Ohio you only need 1 mirror, which for me is the rearview. What state are you in?

Whoa there AD. I checked on this with OSHP and they said that means one OUTSIDE mirror - the rearview on the windshield doesn't count in Ohio.

I'm stopping by a Harley dealer tomorrow to pick up a mirror - part #91910-90A in case you're interested. Less than $30.

$15.00 mirror with bracket from pep boys....you have to do a little modification to the bracket, but it works. You need a 3/8" bolt about 2 1/2" long. Wish i had a pic to show you...it's pretty flimsy, but you can still see out of it enough to know if there is a car coming up on you. It serves it's legal purpose.
Relocation brackets are a WASTE OF MONEY.

Are these a specific model so they will fit? If you don't mind sharing where you got them and the model. Do they come in black?
