trouble with 4 wheel drive hook up.

i had to drop my tanny install a new clutch. anyways its all bolted back together and ready to things up...BUT....the rods that connect the 4x4lo,hi,N, to the transfercase, will not snap back on.

Any tips on how to do this? can they be reinstalled? or do i need to buy new ones?

Yes they can be reinstalled and you don't normally need any new parts to do so. Are you talking about the big shift rod that connects the linkage to the lever on the transfer case that actually shifts it from 2Hi to 4Lo? One end of that rod is held by the big bolt inside the bracket, the other end passes through the lever on the transfer case that when rotated shifts the gears.

yes it was. i figured it out tho. it took me over an hour but i got it.

now im kind of freaking out cause i finally got everything hooked back up and thought i was ready to roll but the clutch has almost no resistance. its like a gas pedal.so when my dad gets home im going to try to bleed the slave cyl. and hopefully that fixes that problem.

and my other issue im haveing is the jeep rumbles pretty hard once is hit 35mph. could this be my drive shafts not installed correctly?

O man im over my head, weak, tires, and frustrated. i should have just took it to a mechanic.

thanks, well we changed the slave cyl and bleed the clutch but its still pretty weak.

the only thing that i know that's left is the master cyl. but i have no idea if that could be the cause or not.
