trunk area cover d.i.y.

i have been thinking about this for a week or two. its 3/16 aluminum diamond plate. its cut to fit snug with the seat back and has three screws holding it down. while its not a full theft deterent, a thief would have to really want under this. it would be a pain in the ass to tilt the rear seat or gain access with the tail gate locked and it was very cheap to build.
this week when i get time, i will powder coat it black and repost some new pics, in the meantime, this is what i got. if anyone wants the measurements for this or a diagram, let me know and i will make and post one.

Looks good. I have thought about doing something similar.

It looks nice, but I have to wonder something.... (sorry, my brain works different than most ). Why do you think it would really slow someone down from getting in through the back seat? The latch is easily accessible from the side of the Jeep if the top is down.. or you are inside the Jeep....

but if the top is up like on a normal day, the person would have to know where the latch is at the bottom of the seat on the left and climb in and either reach through or around the edge of the seat to get it. that would not be easy.
even if the top is down, a person would have to know where to find the seat latch and be willing to stick around long enough to go through that hassle. how brave are most thieves? most are criminals of opportunity looking for a quick, easy score. (they are lazy or they would have jobs and not steal)
i previously have 17 years in the military and combat experience in the Army Infantry, i have a concealed permit and carry a gun at all times and I am an expert with it. It would be worth someone robbing my vehicle just to catch them doing it.
option a: get shot
option b: get a severe case of pistol whip
option c: lick my tires clean
so my stuff is out of sight, out of mind, the cover is simple and clean, and it allows for more storage than a hide a trunk does while providing small item storage for the rear seat passenger.
