Trunk Rattle

Yesterday I was driving the TJ around and I suddenly heard a new rattling sounds. I inadvertently turned the radio up louder to help me ignore the sound but when I ended up turning the radio back down I realized it was the trunk. It only rattles when I go over bumps. I got out, checked that it was completely shut, and then continued on my way. It was shut, and still made that noise. Has anyone had this problem?

If you have the spare on the tailgate then tighten your tailgate bolts

Also, check your latch adjustment to make sure it's properly set. As seals get older they don't provide the same force against the jamb and therefor there isn't enough pressure to keep the gate/door snug when it's latched.
For some, it is easier to kill the light inside of themselves than it is to fight the darkness all around them.

I know this sound obvious but make sure your shutting it all the way. Those tailgates are like side doors, they may look closed because it's latched, but not all the way.
Mine rattled until one day I decide to use a little extra muscle to close more rattle!

Mine was doing that too and I noticed that inside where it latches was a little loose. I tightened it up and noise went away....
