Tube doors?

I'm thinkin' of taking my doors off... but when I had a Samurai and rode with the doors off it didn't feel right... so I'm thinking of getting a set of tube doors. Is anyone rockin' any? Who they made buy? Pics?

I love the doors off!! I would always have them off but the wife doesn't really like them off so i think I am gonna try and build me some tube doors instead of buying them. I don't think there would be too much to it.

Only reason I don't like the "feeling" is because I'm 6'2" and my long legs might meander out the massive hole and find itself dragging on something. I like the feeling of the door there, but the full steel doors are just too tall(no arm rests!) and make perfect windows

Skippy - those are nice, but I'd like something with a better latch.

i saw a new set in jc whitney that looked pretty cool. they had a few different options on how to set them up with things like pockets that attached to the tubes. little pricy though but here is a link.

Well the height bon't bother me, I am 6'3 and like to sit my leg out on the side step when I am cruising and not having to use the clutch!! I just love the free feeling, but I try to make myself wear my seatbelt with out the doors on.

I almost fell out of a CJ 20 years ago. Now I can't go anywhere in my jeep without a seatbelt.

i was rockin the safari doors...but the latch system isnt all that great, the kit comes with pieces of rubber hose that you slip over the door "pin" (more like a loop on a TJ) and thats what the latch grips onto, the latch is the same type as the one on the tailgate. adjustment was a big problem for me, since the doors had to be bolted onto the pins that slip into the hinges. the latch just never lined up correctly for me, and id find myself having to slam the door a good few times to get it to shut, only to have it sometimes half latch, or pop open again...ive been lookin into either ORFab rock doors or those new bestop doors, those look like they have a normal style door latch setup

Raingler/Jeeperman is making some and they use the same latch setup as their rear tire carriers. They sell for 326 :O I have other Jeeperman stuff and am VERY happy with the quality. I just wish their prices were a bit lower...

ORFab makes some too.

Love the top off. I always go barefoot whenever I can and my left foot likes to rest on the edge of the door jamb so the wind can go through its toes. My left foot knows how to have a good time. I'm actually typing with my left foot right now.....not really. I've also been thinking of some tube doors, so if anyone has any pics, post them so I can check them out.

I think mine are Olympic Safari Doors:

I like the doors but the mirrors are awfull. They vibrate so bad I can't see out of them.

I know - and I'm thinking of him making me some custom ones seeing as how it might cost as much as some of these aftermarket ones.

THanks for all the feedback guys!

yeah it is crazy how expensive those can be. it really is a bit of a skill or art though to bend pipes just right. unless you have a nice expensive hydrolic bender. i use to do it for a construction job by hand an it was not fun.

NICE!

How are they yours "High bidder: tigertrack1600m"?

But if he makes them, why not offer them for like $200 then?

I love Ebay! I'm gonna go up the bid unless you ask me not to and then I won't... (I wouldn't really)

build your own - here's how!

I found this very nice website while trolling for local Jeep fans. They just posted an article about building your own doors. Take a look, there is even a company that pre-bends the parts!
