tube fender love, pennsyltucky style

So, been trying to shop around for tube fenders in the near future, but living in pa I have to have decent tire coverage. Right now i have 4" bs soft 8 look alikes with 33x12.50s. Can i see some coverage pics of what you guys have to see what i have for options without making my jeep look like it's about to fly away? I dont NEED full coverage but the more the better.

metal cloak, they make a 6in wide flair that you can take off with 2 bolts for running on the trails or put on for the street.

i was mostly hoping for pics from above the flair showing how much tire is sticking out with brands/specs. I'm aware of metalcloaks and the other brands but i can't find pics from above or specs on bs and tire width

I'm in the same boat; just got told the other day by a local town cop that I had better get some better coverage before someone gives me a $100 fine. The metalcloaks are very nice, just a little pricey. I'd love some MCE flatties; their priced right and can take abuse, but unfortunately the wide ones aren't out yet. They're supposedly shooting for mid to late June; hopefully they come out soon.

If your state has a tread 'law' then most likely you cannot have ANY tread sticking out past the fender flare, period. There are so many different types of tire widths, fender widths, flare widths...that you aren't going to find any comparison specs on them...just impossible to do that. Too many combinations!

BS (backspacing) has nothing to do with fenders, flares, etc.-it's relative to tire rubbing on the frame and suspension with wider tread. Too much one way and you are going to rub and destroy the sidewall and tread, suspension parts...go too far the other way and you are sticking out beyond your body and if you 'bottom out' that body edge is going to slice up your tread! Yes, it is confusing... but you want to pick a tire you like, then go from there.

Yep, here in PA its illegal to have anything at all sticking out past the fenders. I was told recently about that; I've heard some claim that they've been told even adding wider flares isn't legal; they want your tires to be within the original limits of the body, blah blah blah. I was told by a local cop I could get wider flares and be fine, so thats what I'll be doing.
