Tube Fender ???s

Helle.

I think about buying some tube fenders.
But our laws over here say, that the thread of the tires has to be covered by the fenders or fender flares.
Is there a tube fender out there that is as wide as my stock fender with teh 7" fender flares?
Thatīs what Iīm searching at the moment.
How do I install front blinkers and sidemarkers with tube fenders?

Thanks in advance.

you can get them with a 6" flare
as far as the lights they have led lights and a blinker relay for that
there are some companeys that will make a 7" flare for an extra fee

I believe TNT or PSC makes them with 6 or 7" flares.

Which companies do you mean?
All the companies I asked have 6" tube fenders and they donīt want to make 7" fenders for some extra money.

Sounds to me like you need the 6" tube fenders and 1" narrower tires.

Check out Genright or Sniper Fab here in the states. If I remember rightly I believe they might have what you are looking for.

sniper fab sent me some good stuff. I did the weld it yourself kit for 200 bucks
you could always temp mount your plastic fender flares for street use and take them off for the trail

I believe Treks are building rear tube flares that will bolt on useing the factory mounting holes without having to buy complete corners.

What's the welding skill level required for that kit? I've been MIG (Miller 180) welding a couple years at strictly a weekend hobbiest level and just curious if there's anything tricky to it like welding thin sheet to heavier tube. My welds are best on the heavy who-cares kind of stuff and when not out on display for the world to make fun of.

I've wondered about this myself, but shied away because they are right out there for everyone to see.

its easy I welded my fenders up myself
as long as your welds are penetrating the steel and you have mechanical and some light fab skills its easy

for cutting my factory fenders up I used the poison spyder fender install instructions

Jerry, I have faith in you. Set your welder up with .030 wire with the temp range for the thicker tube. Start the weld on the tube and do a quick carry over to the thinner metal keeping the majority of the heat on the tube.

Thanks Silvergoat, that's pretty much what I was thinking. Welding a heavy steel temperature sender bung into my sheet metal auto tranny pan last weekend was a similar process and that went ok. But then again, no one can see the weld I made there. Thanks man.

you can do it Jerry. you just gotta take your time and make sure everything squares up right. I had to rush a couple times and if you look closely you can tell. Im still waiting on some Landrover LR2 turn signals. or i may just put in some CJ7 turn signals. I ended up coating them with a spray on bed liner and it came out pretty good. keeping the stock inner fenders works just fine too.
