Tube or stock bumberps

I have a set of chrome smittybuilt bumpers installed by the PO. I found a set of stock ones on CL for $20 a piece and am wondering if they would be a better choice.

Does anyone have a picture of how they mount on the frame?

And, are they strong enough to build on top of them? Nothing big, but I would like to take a shot at putting shackles on them.

Thanks!

both are weak bumpers that won't absorb much impact. Unless you plan on installing the shackles on the Jeep frame, it will be useless to have them anywhere on either 2 bumpers. Save and go aftermarket that will have the D-rings mounts.

I've been running stock bumpers forever.. Seeing no sense having a battering ram up front or out back ,,, if ya like the d ring look, I'm sure someone makes a set that bolts up to the frame, using a stock bumper.. Get that smittybilt off ASAP, stop embarrassing yourself.. . Just kidding!!

X2 on the stock bumpers. I cut my front bumper at an angle added a grille guard and left the back bumper alone. And instead of adding a swing away tire carrier/bumper I put on a bestop tire carrier. I just can't see adding all that weight and spending the extra cash unless you drop on rocks or are just going for a certain look. Just my .02
