The "handle" is called a footman loop, and harkens back to the military origins of the Jeep!Ditto for the 2 rubber bumpers.I have never felt the need to fold my windshield down, but it's nice to know that is there!I can see why the Desert Fox military would fold it down,to clear the way for gunshots!Man,I love the Jeep past history/origin!
I thought the handle was to strap your mother in-law down so she doesn't fall off? Dang don't let my wife see this thread
It is but you have to put your windshield back up before you do that. You could just caribeener her to the front bumper if you have shackle mounts like I do, works much better.

hope these aren't tooooo dumb, but they've had me wondering..
1. Why is there a handle on the hood of the wrangler? Does this serve some purpose?
2. In 2WD mode, is the TJ front-wheel drive or rear-wheel drive?
1. Notice that there are two rubber bumpers on the hood plus a handle on the windshield itself (inside, at the top) to help accomodate the windshield being lowered. The hinges on the windshield tend to rust at the pins and not work so well. May want to lubricate them if thinking of folding the windshield down.
