Two winch related questions

The TJ I bought came with a winch installed. It is sporting synthetic rope. My first question is: I have no idea how old the line is, is there a recomended change out time due to UV or some other reason. I also cannot tell you how much it was actually used, however I don't see any frays or cuts.

Secondly, today was the first time I tested the winch to see if it works. All I get is a clunking from the solenoid in both in and out positions but no movement. Starting point?

It's a Champion Power Equipment 8000. I've never heard of them before, are they good or bad? Perhaps just scrap it and put on a Warn?

Thanks to all you experts

No there is no recommended time to switch out the line, if theres no frays or any sorts then youre good to go. As for the clunking, couldnt help ya out, i myself have only played with my winch once.

Might wanna try removing and cleaning the solenoid. The add some dielectric grease to all the connections.
