Uggly jeep help!!!!!!!!!

i am in the market for a new to me jeep wrangler, when i came across a good deal. A 2000 sport with low miles and a fair price. Now the bad news; it has that UGLY hummer conversion kit on it. Does anyone know anything about these kits. Basically what will it take for me to convert this landrunner back to a JEEP. Is it only cosmetic; meaning just get new fender flares and new grill or will i have to modify more than that? thanks ahead of time

EDIT: oh wow, that is bad

By the looks of it, it would have to be a hell of a good deal to be worth getting if you are planning on ripping the conversion crap off.

I say wait for a regular, un-molested jeep

I would think the damage could be un-done if you can buy it right to begin with and the basics are all good. I like the tires and wheels

Sometimes, good deals are just easy to pass up....and this is one of them. Even if there was a kit you could apply to bring this back to "Jeep" status, the deal probably wouldn't sound too good then.
Pass on it...too many other nice looking jeeps around to be messing with that thing.

It's amazing how quickly Hummvees went from cool object-of-desire to "yuck."

At one point, they were so hot that people were making their Jeeps look like them. There were kits to convert trucks to fake ones.

Now, they're selling the company to the Chinese, and sales of new H2 and H3s can be counted on fingers and toes.

Astonishing how quick that happened.

kunTREEboy: You're going to have buyer's remorse if you get this one. A week after you buy it, you'll see the perfect one advertised on Craiglist, and you'll be all bummed.

Yeah, I've met with the guy who sold/converted those for Jeep dealers, those rear fenders are structural enough to stand on, good luck getting them off w/out destroying the tub.

Ok, I normally don't comment negatively about mods people have made etc. since everyone has their own tastes etc... but I just could not let this pass.

That has got to be the worst abortion of a Jeep I have ever seen. I even prefer the ones in the other threads that have the huge ridiculous rims on them etc. over that - at least those can be reverted much more easily. I honestly just don't know what would cloud someone's thinking so much that they would think that kit was a good idea. Even on dope I would think that was ugly.

I would avoid that thing like the plague itself. I think just looking at it I have lost at least 30 IQ points

All that being said, if anyone who reads my comment on it is offended because they actually like it - Well, I'm sorry for offending you. We obviously have VERY VERY different thoughts on what a Jeep should be.

wow thats bad. the only conversion kit that i like for the jeep is the aev kit. i dont know how much i like the brute kit but i do really like the highline fender kit which is the front end on the brute kit. that might actually make it onto my jeep.
