When did they start doing underhood insulation? My 04 never had any. I am glad it doesn't.

Just curious but why are you glad it doesnt? I dont have it on my 98 and have "crows feet". I would think the insulation would prevent that?

I have it on my 04 and I do have some cracking in the paint. Mostly at the front edge of the hood. Not much though.

would an undercoat on the inside of the hood be considered insulation?

I don't have any will probably rattle can the underside of the hood with something, the hood gets really hot and makes a poor resting place for beer.

I am not really sure what benefit it would serve on a Jeep. Couldn't be for sound insulation while the wind is blowing through your ears, or the soft top is flapping!

I am glad it was not there when I cut holes in my hood for the hood louver a couple months ago. My Jeep is black and I don't have any "crows feet". But, it spends most of it's life in the garage and not parked out in the sun. That probably has a lot to do with it.

Ya mines outside 24/7. But its not terrible, you can only notice it up close lookin at it which is nice. Plus not alot of cars can even see my hood with 5 in lift and 33s so im good. Haha but what benefit does the insulation provide? Or supposed to at least?
