Unknown Leak on Soft Top

i have an '06 TJ that my wife bought me for Christmas, we have a lot of rain here in Alabama, and i just noticed today that the carpet beside(next to the door) and behind the passenger seat is wet. i looked all morning and couldn't find a place it is leaking. it has been raining a lot and i have not noticed any leaks before and i am almost going to let it go because it has really been blowing rain for the last two days. could that be all it is? just getting in where the zippers are and little places?

check under the carpet and see if your drain plug is in, if its missing water can be coming up through the floor when you drive.

or it could be a foam seal close to where the windshield and sport bar meet, if its wet then thats your leak, i have this problem on the drivers side, i woulden't worry about it.

that would make sense why i can't find where the water is coming in if the plugs are out.
thanks for the help.

grizzly,
i have full doors, i looked over all the seals, door and top, and couldn't find any place that looked like it has been leaking.

so i looked under the carpet behind the passenger front seat and the plugs are still in. does anyone have another idea as to where the water could be getting in and only be right there? the carpet under the back seat is damp but it is really wet behind the passenger seat.

Take your Jeep to the car wash, have someone in the back looking for obvious leaks.

I just leave the rear floor plugs out so that whatever leaks in can drain out.

Check to ensure that all the rubber clips are in place. I see incorrectly installed soft tops on car lots all the time. Dealers have no clue unless someone there owns a Jeep.

good news or bad news depending on how you look at it. as i said in earlier post the rear plug was in where it was the dampest, but tonight after i got home i thought i would mop up the damp carpet with a towel. i was nosing around the front passenger seat when i noticed it was a little damp. taking my towel and pulling the carpet back to dry the back of the carpet i noticed that the prevoius owner had pushed the wires for the fog lamps(which didn't work) through the plug in the front passenger area which caused the plug to become unseated and cocked over to one side. of course i also found out why the fog lights didn't work(fuse holder submurged in water). and on a hunch i inspected the drivers side plug and found it was completely gone but didn't look like it was getting any water what so ever. but it looks as though the mystery has been solved. thanks to all those who gave me ideas to pursue.
