Updating lift kit

Hello all, i have searched and cannot find what im looking for on here, so im posting a thread for some help. thanks in advance for all the help by the way too

well here is the situation. i have a 2.5 inch lift springs with a spacer on the front ( i think it was put there becuase of the weight of the winch by the previous owner) Anyways, can i buy 4 inch springs and put them on there with out having to get new control arms? i have just put shocks on that are for 3-4 inches of lift so i dont have to worry about that. I also have and SYE kit in the rear, with the adjustable control arms as well.

thanks again for the help with this

ken

shocks for 4" of lift are far too long for 2.5" of lift. they'll bottom out and cause damage to the shocks and eventually rip the shock mounts off the axle.

you can add 4" lift springs, but you'll need everything else required for 4" of lift...adjustable track bars, rear track bar relocation bracket, bumpstop extensions, extended brake lines, extended sway bar links. The SYE will be required for 4" of lift, so good that you have it. You may need to buy a new rear driveshaft if the length is incorrect for 4" of lift. You'll also need to address steering, brakes, caster, alignment, etc. This may require adjustable front lower control arms.

you shouldn't stack spacers with lift springs. bad idea. if you're just looking to replace the springs+spacers setup with 4" springs, yes throw the springs on...but you'll still need to check alignment, pinion angle, bumpstop length, etc.

yeah i figured as much. the previous owner is the one that put the lift on there. i really just need the rear to come up about 3/4 of an inch or so. i was thinking of just putting a spacer in the rear. or i may just do a one inch body/mm lift and be done with it. plus that will be needed when i do the tummy tuck anyways. thanks for the info im going to dig around a little more and see what i can come up with.

thanks again for the information
