Post Ups and Downs of a Budget Boost

I am considering getting a minor lift. I won't be doing any rock climbing, just a little playin around on the weekends. Besides that, I just want the jeep to look a little healthier, a little more beefy. Right now it has the stock suspension and I was thinking about moving up a little bit. What are the pros and cons of a budget boost? Right now the price is right and im leaning that way. Anything I should look out for? Thinking 32"-33" tires if that helps at all. Thanks for any input you have

BB lift is fine. No real draw backs. with just the 2" 33's might be a bit tight. 3" is better for them. You can also just your stock shocks for a while with the bb if $$ is a factor.

will i have to regear for 33"? i kind of factored shocks into the budget, so i dont THINK that will be a problem.

As for the gears, most folks just live with a drop in power for a while. What gears do you have now?

Correct BB is spacer that sits on top of the coil.

2000 sport.
Auto I will guess 3.07's stick 3.73 just a guess though. 3.73's are fine for 33's. Might need to down shift for big hills etc. but both are okay.

Not always true.
I have a stick with 3.07 gears, check on the rear differential cover, on the left there should be a tag across two of the bolts. This will tell you what gears you have.

It's the other way around. Stick has 3.07, auto has 3.73.

I've ran a BB for two years now with a 1 inch BL. I have room for 33s, but am still on 31s. I went right with new longer shocks and installed quick disconnects while I had it all apart. I'm very happy with the set up, though I'd like to go with new coils and ditch the BB eventually.

the hubby had a 2000 tj sport a few years back. initially he installed a 2" bb w/31's. then he upgraded to the 2" lift springs and 32". he liked that setup a lot better. he had the 3.07's in his and had no problems. he was running the same trails as guys w/ 3-4" lifts and 33-35" tires.

with a BB you have the same old sagged springs. a real spring lift is much better and always gives you a better ride than stock.
IMO my old 2" BB was wasted mony. saving some money and buying the OME lift instead of the BB would have been about 250$ cheaper.

x3, I don't know exactly how Jeep decided what gears to put in those d35's but my old 2000 sport had a d35 with 3.73's and a 5 speed. All stock.
