Using an OEM switch for after market lighting

Hi Everybody, New member and first time Jeep owner here.
Rather than using the switch that came with the lighting kit. I am using a couple OEM switches and connectors to wire up some Hella lights. The OEM connector comes with four wires, can anyone tell me what goes where?
I thought it would be a cleaner look to replace the two switch blanks in the dash with OEM switches than mount the ones that come with the lights..

What wattage are the lights you wiring in. If they are above stock you should wire them through a relay and use the OEM switch to energize the relay.

What switch did you get to use. I would assume a normal switch would have 3 wires, power in, power out, and a ground. if you got a rear windshield switch, it would have power in, power out - wiper, power out - washer, and ground.
What have we got?

I have two TJ OEM fog light switches and wiring harness connectors. It is a four prong switch. I am using 55 watt lights. Yes, I realize I need to use the relay provided with the kit. I need to know which of the wires in the connector goes to the relay, ground, power etc.
I just want to replace the switch that come with the lights with an OEM switch that will fit in the existing spaces. Thanks

When wiring up my hella 500's on my bumper, I wanted to use an OEM switch also. But the switch wouldn't work with the wires that came with the lights. So, I went on eBay and bought an aftermarket switch that looks like OEM which pops right into one of the empty slots and wired up perfect. Hope this helps!

They work for the factory lights...they gotta work for the after market as well. It is just a matter of knowing which wire goes where. Unfortunately, that is the rub.

Here is the wiring diagram for OEM fog light switch...

I can't recall which model year that is from, but that should help some.

You don’t state the yr the harness is for but for a ’97-’01: #1 orange from dash lights (dimmer controlled), #2 brown/white to relay coil, #3 dark green/yellow from fused power source, #4 black to ground. With this setup one of the 2 lights in the switch will work with the cluster lights & the other will light when the switch is “on” & of course the relay will close when “on” as well.

You can see this in the FSM. Go here for an online read only version:
