Using stock premium Alpine subwoofer in conjunction w/ aftermarket subwoofer?

Hey Guys,

New here, been a guest viewer for a while but haven't signed up till now. Tried searching & did read through quite a few threads, but didn't see any scenarios where someone kept their stock sub & added an additional sub.

I got a good deal & ended up w/ the uConnect 730N system which I didn't really want, but yea...I'd like to keep the stock HU along w/ the stock Alpine subwoofer. Anyone out there know if it's a good idea to run both the stock Alpine premium subwoofer with an aftermarket subwoofer at the same time? The 10" Bazooka I removed from my old car has been sitting in my garage collecting dust, so I thought...why not.

Based on what I've been reading, you can run a line converter & splice into the signal from other speakers within the Jeep. Still reading around on how to do this properly in my 2013 2D Sahara.

Just wondering how it would be to run two different subwoofers both powered by their own amps along w/ the stock HU.

Sorry for the long post & thanks for reading!

Hmm must have been tired last night, not sure how this ended up in the TJ forums. Anyone know how to move this to the JK General Discussions? Not seeing any options to do so from my phone.

Sorry. :/

Sounds like an odd mix. I'd say no. Especially with the oem amp. Aftermarket amp it could work, but you'll most likely damage the stock 8. And it'll sound like crap. I'd just run the 10.

this, you'd have to do too much work to get them matched up and it would really be taking away from what the 10" is capable of

Thanks guys! That's what I figured, never ran non-matching subs with such RMS and size difference.

On my TJ, I am running an aftermarket headunit with an amp and sub but I left my stock center console sub (replaced it with an Alpine though) hooked up. I like the additional 'mid' bass it brings into the system.
