V8 wrangler?

This might be a stupid question, but I see lots o jeep with v8s in them, so I am wondering, do they make a wrangler stock with a v8?

Wrangler...no.

Only "wrangler' which was not titled a wrangler to have a factory V8 was the CJ.

Why don't they have one? It would be a big improvement over the 4.0 or 3.8 6 cyl.

Probally the same reason they don't sell the diesel powered wranglers in the US.

They don't like money.

really though...millions of jeepers have pressed the issue of a V8 or diesel wrangler for years and years to Diamlier/Chrysler/Jeep with no success.

There are however many companies and shops that sell swap parts, kits and even install V8's on your dime.

Wait don't you mean they do not sell diesel Wranglers anymore. I have driven a diesel Wrangler with the Edge module in it and it was pretty fast.

Nope, Never has a factory "for sale to the us public" wrangler been produced for production sale to the US public. There are private companies that have converted and sell conversion kits for a diesel wrangler and do the conversions and sell to in the US such as AEV.

If it had a diesel in it,,,it didn't roll off the assembly line that way.

I thought it was stock, but I guess I was wrong. It was an Edge Products company vehicle though.

A buddy of mine had a CJ7 in Costa Rica with an Isuzu diesel in it I believe it was an 82-83 4 speed diesel pig!!! Awesome truck...Dont remember if it was turbo or not but it rolled of the export line with that motor for sale overseas.

I'll tell ya when I mine is complete. Cost is going to vary quite a bit depending on what diesel engine you use. The most common is the Cummins 4BT. It's a 3.9L 4 cylinder. There is an entire forum dedicated to just swapping that particular engine.

Have another drink. The SRT8 was a Grand Cherokee.

Wranglers have never had an 8 put in them from the factory, never (a CJ is not a Wrangler). There has never been a U.S. Wrangler with a factory diesel either. There are a lot of diesel Wranglers overseas, TJ and JK, but not for us. I think it'd be nice if someone from Toledo would get on one of these Jeep forums and actually read about some of the things actual Jeepers want. Leather seats and chrome dash bezels, no, Cummins diesel w/Allison transmission, yes.

There was a Perkins diesel in 1960s CJs, but nothing more recent than that.

V8 wranglers

As much as I would like to see chrysler put a v8 in the wrangler I highly doubt they will now especially with the EPA crackdown of placing fuel mileage standards for all car companies.

I'm hoping for a hemi wrangler someday. If driven easy I doubt they would get much less mpg than the v6's. Even the new v6 will feel weak in a jku with 35's. 4x4's need torque and that comes with a diesel or cubic inches. It seems silly they want to add horsepower and rpm. Next thing we know will will have a 10 speed tranny just to keep a motor at 4000 or more rpm to stay in it's power band. Give us 400+ torque and keep the high revving motors for the cars. If the EPA gets it's way the next Wrangler will have to slant the windshield and start looking like the rest of the suv's out there. Always somebody trying to make things better by messing up the good stuff.
