Unhappy vacume leak help

2006 wrangler with the three knob air flow control. problem is the diverter valve knob is uoeber sloppy and, I can hear a vacume leak at the >"switch,vents"< and even in the off position "with the vacume hiss" the compressor kicks in. anyone have any ideas?

Umm, replace the switch?

Seriously, if the switch is loose, pull the whole unit loose and look / listen for the leak.
But just going by what you say, if the switch is loose it could be the source of your leak.

the knob itself isnt loose. by sloppy i meant it doesnt detent like its supposed to. or shut the blend doors or turn off the a/c compressor. I guess what im saying is i dont know where to get a replacement switch or what its called.

If it's the one that selects between A/C & defrost etc. then that is called the mode switch. You also have a temp control & fan speed switches. Hope that helps. I don't know if you can get that switch separately from the dealer. They will probably tell you you have to buy the whole 3 switch panel. If so check the aftermarket parts places.

So its called a mode switch. that helps. Is there any way to find out if they had problems with the switch and made improvements? Even if not thanks for the help.

im guessing your rubi came with good years. you running with good years again? just asking because i switched to bfg mts.
ooh, also did you get the recall on the clutch linkage and if so how is it working out?

Yes came with Goodyears & when I got it used, the dealer had installed the same OEM tires. Been good for me. I have an auto so don't know about the clutch linkage.
