vacuum line?

So I'm hunting for a vacuum leak and followed a line under my battery tray. What is under there and do I need it?

Vacuum reservoir. It's not there as a decoration.

If you notice that line Ts above the battery & goes into the cab. That line goes to the HVAC mode switch. It keeps the HVAC controls (from the mode switch) from changing their settings when the engine vacuum is low like accelerating or going up a long hill. If you lose vacuum the air flow will default to only coming out the defrost vents.

Thanks.. a reservoir.. sounds like a good place to put something that will get battery acid and corrosion on it.
