Valvoline Trans Fluid?!?!?! Yes or No

The only Trans fluid i can get my hands on in my hometown is Valvoline Syn-power. Is it any good for my manual 5 spd??? Need to change fluid cause i think i may have gotten some water in there. Going into gear kinda harder than normal after taking it through some deep water this weekend?

ya, what year, and a manual trans doesn't take actual transmission fluid.

I have an '03 with the NV3550 5 speed. And should only put in three kinds of fluid as I have been led to believe. The dealer oil, Penzoil Syncromesh, and Purple Syncromesh. I went with Penzoil as it is in my engine.

But it depends on your transmission

That just means that you can turn on 4wd. If you don't have a Rubicon you have the NV231 t-case. With a slip yoke, 2.73:1 low gear. You can select 2 wheel high, 4 wheel high and 4 wheel low. Never use 4wd on dry pavement.

Edit: you can also put the t-case in neutral very helpful when flat towing.

Command-Trac is the type of 4x4 system (aka known as a part-time off-road only 4x4 system) all of our Wranglers came with. It is the big component after the transmission that allows us to select 2wd, 4Hi, Neutral, or 4Hi.

I guess you didn't get to read what I posted in that other thread for you.

Yep You'll be good to go with the RP Sychromax for you NV3550...

T-case as mentioned is a 231j,,,,any good quaility ATF works fine, it isn't picky. The t'case holds....1.3 quarts of fluid.

TYPO!!!!!!! and cant edit it now.

I meant 1.3 quarts for the 231.

It is indeed not 2.3...heck I don't think you could pump that much in one.
