Also have Chromoloy axles on the way to the house as well...

First opportunity I had with my winch, I had the pleasure of dragging my mother-in-law's boyfriend's Chevy Silverado out of my yard when he got it stuck in my creek......

I painted a red Chevy bowtie on the solenoid cover....

You have a creek in your yard?!?!?!

Man how awsome is that! :p

For the most part, it's been awesome. However, the creek is a mixed blessing sometimes. It can be very intense when we get a lot of rain. We've experienced class 5 rapids on a few occasions.

Did you get the re-released version with the 5.5hp motor? or the original with the 4.1?

The 4.1 is a magnetic motor (miserably slow, prone to breakdown). The 5.5 is a series wound motor, which is more reliable and faster.

Apparently there were alot of complaints about the 4.1 In the XRC8, so they re-released the XRC8 with the motor from the XRC10.

If you got the 4.1 and want to return it and get the 5.5, it is part number SB97281 in 4Wheel Parts

PS. I hope I didn't ruin your Christmas in June, I'll feel bad :(

Thanks for the info, I will check the part number today when I get it and if it is not the part number listed below, I will swap it out.

How can i check the winch itself to know if it has the 5.5 motor or the 4.1 motor?

I really don't know how to check it, I guess you just look in the warranty book for the specs. I really hope they send you the revamped version to save you the hassle.

What company did you order it from?

Well according to the spec manual i got with the winch...it has.....the ......5.5 hp motor on it..WHOO HOO.

I installed it on Friday night. WORD OF WARNING: IF YOU GET THIS WINCH, HOOK UP THE GROUND WIRES TO THE WINCH BEFORE INSTALLING THE WINCH!!!!SOB/BAST*RD :banghead::banghead:

Nothing like installing a winch, getting everything bolted in, and then figuring out that ground bolt you need to get to is on the frigging bottom of the winch...damn it...

you would have thought that i was reading the book "1001 dirty words".

Plus the fact it was like 95 degrees out and there was a thunderstorm coming. Oh and it was 10:30 at night.
