So party my fault but my jeep had been sitting for almost 3 years on my land upstate - open to the elements. i would start it up every now and then but at one point i noticed the brakes went to the floor - likely from a critter chewing thru the lines.
so tow it in and i get hit with $2500 repair bill:
new stainless steel lines
new steering box (old one rotted from sitting)
new fuel tank support (apparently old one rusted thru)
new front axle u joints and drive shaft u joints (apparently it was all locked up)
fluid change and flush, so im driving home and after about 40 miles the brakes get really hard pedal with no travel and stopping power is reduced by like 90%, to the point where im not even confident in the easiest stop. i do smell what i thought was over heated brakes but that wouldnt explain the hard pedal? there were not conditions present to have over heated brakes, very light traffic.
locked up caliper?
bad booster?
whats odd is the next day everything seems normal, but i am not confident i can drive it for long before it happens again.
any thoughts, im actually pissed i sold my BMW bc i never had such a huge repair bill on that car, and im not into this jeep for close to 7k
