Vibration in my TJ

In my '05 TJ, about 40-45mph, I get vibration in my steering wheel. Sometimes it's just slight, other times there's a lot of it going on.
Thinking it was the tires, 33x12.5 Goodyear MTRs, I had them balanced and rotated. Nope, didn't stop it.

So yesterday, my brother and I crawled underneath and started looking around. It looks like the passenger side control arm bushing is shot. It's A LOT looser than the drivers side. We checked other things, but we don't know enough to know if anything else is wrong or not.

My question is, could the control arm bushing cause the vibration?

I can buy the bushing from Quadratec for around $25. I'd replace the other too. I'm thinking of getting a suspension inspection done from 4 Wheel Parts. But that would cost me $80. I wasn't sure if that would be worth it or now.

What do you guys think?

I forgot to mention the vibration goes away when I hit 50mph.

Steering issues make me very nervous. I would spend the $80 for safety, if you are not sure of what is going on and all that might be involved.

NOT saying you have DW, but the principal components that people work on adjust / replace would also affect a vibration issue in the steering-IMO. Might want to read check that thread-may help direct you to what is causing the problem.

Good move on rotation/balance of the tires-might also consider another rotate and balance if nothing is found in suspension steering components. Sometimes they don't get it right the first time.

Good Luck!!!

I haven't made the appointment yet, but earliest they can get me in is 2 weeks.

How difficult is it to change that bushing? Assuming that's what is causing it.

Good Luck-as I mentioned earlier-I get nervous about steering suspension front end-if it is not obvious to me what is wrong, it goes to the shop. Not worth the failure to try and figure it out when a pro can tell me and he will MAYBE get the chance to fix it if I don't feel comfortable doing it myself.

This thread I read the other day seemed to say that if vibes come and go depending on speed then it points to wheel/tire balance problem.
