Want top take hardtop off, but don't have a softop!

So, this year I plan to go to Vermont in June. If the weather looks 'rainless' in CT and VT during that weekend, I want to take my hardtop off. The problem is, I do not have a softop (yet).

Anybody ever do this? I just want to enjoy being 'topless', but don't have the coin to buy a ST at the moment....

I run bikini top and no doors all summer, but I also don't have carpet to worry about either.

Last year was the first year with my tj. I took the hard top off the day I got it home and left it that way till fall. Luckily we only had two days it rained and I threw my cover over it. This year I'm buying one of these...

Hope this is ok to do - new - not sure about all the forum rules. Do not want to get in trouble. Just purchased a 2003 Rubicon. Have both bikini and soft top - they look never used. Live in Montana - not ever taking the hardtop off. Will sell. Thanks

Go with the emergency top it fits in a bag under the seat and you will never drive around with a soft top on unless it's raining anyways. If the forecast looks bad for a couple days just put the hard top back on. I got 2 hand winching straps and eye hook screws at the homer store for less than ten bucks for easy on/ off one person top changes. Takes about ten minutes by myself.

Thanks Everyone! I actually ended up buying a used OEM soft top frame (Bestop) on eBay, along with a brand new Rampage top, rear side, and rear windows tinted. I got the frame for $35 (!!!!), and the black diamond canvas set for $244 from RockRiders. I figured under $300 for the whole frame and canvas is a good deal!
