Warrent for console

Would a cop need a warrant to get into your locked console?

They would need probable cause to be in your vehicle in the first place. If they had that cause, they can get into your locked console too.
Why? Or do I not want to know!!

Without consent either a warrent or arrest would get them in it.

The police have the right to access anything within their reasonable view. So a locked glove box or console "should" be off limits. But if they suspect your vehicle was used in the perpetration of a crime it's fair game. Or if you cross the US border.

And if you have a concealed carry permit you MUST tell the officer you have a gun in your vehicle when they first approach you or that could be a felony.

My rule of thumb, never do anything illegal and you'll never have to worry about it!

That would depend on state law, in Washington you don't have to tell them you're carrying, but its a common courtesy to do so.

Cops can seize the vehicle if they want, then apply for a warrant, then search. Then you have to pay impound. It all comes down circumstances and attitude...there is a thick gray line when it comes to probable cause. Be forewarned.

My bad, I should have added "depending on where you live" before I said that so thank you for pointing that out. I forgot the liberal socialists don't run the rest of the country like they do here in NY. The whole concealed carry law here is designed to discourage you from even trying to get a handgun and to even have one in your home you have to get a permit that has the same PITA requirements as a Concealed Carry permit. I moved from the Nationalist Socialist State of Illinois and was shocked as you only needed a FOID card to own one though there is no Concealed Carry. And in NY, you must register every gun you own and it needs to be listed on your spouse's own permit or they're seized when you die.

Sorry to go on a gun control rant in a Jeep forum but I would assume many of us are sportsman who believe in the 2nd Amendment and can forgive me for it. And I don't even want a gun for protection purposes!

Ain't too bad being a gun owner in Washington state.. CPL is $80 good for 5 years, renewal is even cheaper. No tests to get one just criminal background check, which takes a few months. Washington is a shall issue state, meaning if you have no criminal past preventing you from owning a weapon they have to issue the license
