Question Water Proof?

Is this TJ Wrangler dashboard a water proof? JK wrangler dashboard is, of course, so it's also possible the TJ's could be a too.

As far as I know, JK dashboards are not water proof... and neither is my TJ dashboard...

Jk dashboards are def not waterproof. I just Totalled my 07 unlimited Sahara in a river. Engine hydro locked didn't total it. It was the fact the dash was under water. Once dash gets wet = Totalled. I learned that the hard way. Now I just got an 04 rubicon so I am interested to hear about this but I doubt the dash is totally water proof maybe from a little bit of rain, but not a river!

Just because it is designed to get rained on doesn't mean you want to chadwick it.

lol chadwick...anywhoo I've gotten the dash pretty wet from rain but even that worried me. There's a lot of wires and electrical stuff back up in there especially your radio!

Given you don't go submarine, really the only thing to worry about is the clock spring, it is very sensitive to water. Majority of the dash is HVAC, other than the radio and airbag there isn't really anything in the dash that is ruinable. There is certainly more important things that are ruinable under the hood than in the dash.

My Jeep sat for 4 years with no top or any kind of protection for the interior and all my dash stuff works including my factory radio. Only thing that don't work is my dash lights and I figure one of these days when I go to change my heater core with my dash all pulled off I will check everything out and see what's up. I did however get woke up one morning with it raining and my horn blaring cuz I forgot to unhook my battery. Ive washed my dash off with a water hose when I bed lined my tub and hurt nothing. Maybe I just got lucky though.

(i lived in phoenix) but still never had a single issue with the dash. went thru about 4 ignition coils in about 10 months.

I don't think he's showed his face around here since that thread. Sad really, I wanted to know what happened to the Jeep. He's probably lurking around here under a different name. Come on Chadwick, fill us in man!!

haha. I have an 02 tj that I got completely covered in mud, and I had to drive it for three hours the next day, so I pulled the plugs and hosed the whole thing down. Dash, steering wheel and all. Never had a problem with it. Maybe I got lucky, but I always thought they were at least pretty water resistant.
