Water Pump..Next Best to OE???

Replacing water pump and thermostat tomorrow. Not going to the Stealership here as I morally object...plus the local one here sucks. I have heard gripes on Autozone's cheapy so I am looking at O'Reilly, Autozone, Advanced Auto, and such. We also have NAPA.

Any suggestions on a brand or part #?

I go right to the dealer for critical parts like the water pump. The Chinese imports those chain stores carry may come with heavily-pushed "lifetime" warranties but they're still shoddily built Chinese imports.

No Jeep dealer I've ever worked with ever gave me a problem in the parts department so long as I treated them well and simply asked for a discount. Which they can and will do... if you ask for it.

I will buy many parts at other locations other than the dealership but for critical parts like the water pump, I'll pay more to get OE quality. The water pumps sold by the stores are little better than junk.

I hear ya guys. I will call back. Our parts department at the dealer here in town is pure crap. 90% of the time they never even answer the phone. I am in sales and usually do well with finding someone in a department to make buddies with, but this place...arghhhh. OK...breath, breath, breath....

WOW. OK, So I called East Carolina Chrysler Dodge Jeep and talked to Ken. Maybe things are changing...I honestly haven't been there in over a year. HE WAS AWESOME!

I asked for a discount and told him I was a member of a couple of Jeep clubs and that I also have a Tax Stamp/Wholesale license, he said no worries and knocked $27 of the price right off the bat. I will be picking it up tomorrow for $119...NOT BAD!

Good to read, glad it worked out for you. Not to mention you're getting a good quality water pump instead of the junk that the auto parts stores sell.

The OEM water pump is, from what I understand, already a HO waterpump. Get the OEM.
