water seat covers

Hey guys,
When seats get wet how long do they take to dry out? Stock tj seats. I was thinking about door seal or seat covers because I heard that the seats take a long time to dry out. What's the better option? And if the door seals are better where do I get them?

If you decide to go the cover route here is a great place to get some. They are water proof and fit very nicely. Makes your seats look like they came from the factory that way.

A little correction. Wet Okole are not water proof. They soak up water. (ever put on a wet suite?) Wet Okole also fade very badly and fast with sun exposure.

I would suggest some neoprene seat covers, they are water resistant, washable, and you can get any style and color you want pretty much.

Neoprene isn't waterproof and will also soak up water...I believe Wet Okole are made of neoprene, but don't quote me on that as I've never owned em.

If you want truly waterproof seatcovers...check out the Bestop vinyl seatcovers. I've got them on my Jeep...they're a little pricey, but they are waterPROOF and they fit well. The only catch is...if you live where it gets hot and leave your top off on a sunny day, they get HOOOOOOT. But I bought a spiderweb shade and it keeps them cool enough on even the hottest days.

From the Wet Okole website, "They do not get hot in the summer or cold in the winter. They are completely waterproof and fit your seats like a glove." They do have a disclaimer that they can leak some around cutout areas such as where seat belts go through and standing water can eventually leak through the seams but they claim they are waterproof. Not trying to stir up, just wanted to let you know what they claim.

My dealership used to frequently sell Wet Okole seat covers for our Wranglers, and I installed a set on my first TJ (a 2001 Sport). Whenever I was surprised by a sudden rain shower, all that was needed was to quickly towel them off--the seat would then be completely dry. They were fantastic for avoiding the embarrassment of wet clothing from sitting on a rain-soaked seat.

Waterproofness (is that a word?) has a downside, though. When you're driving in 100^ heat and your body sweats, the Wet Okole covers do not absorb any of this sweat... which means the back of your shirt looks like you got nailed by a super soaker when you arrive at your destination.

So I guess it's a crap shoot.

Wet Okole makes a special UV protectant for this very reason. After two years of ownership, my covers still looked like new.

I'd advise you get a set of vinyl(or synthetic leather) covers. they are without a doubt water proof, and don't fade out nearly as fast as neoprene.

Iggee's are very nice covers.

Bestop don't look as good IMO but are just as protective.

You can search on this and any other Jeep forum, and you will find more than a few people who have trashed their neoprene (some even of this ever so famous "wet okole" brand) and gone vinyl.

Many companies claim a lot of things. Don't trust marketing.

This is so true. I live in Texas and even in the 80 and 90 degree heat we are having right now in fall I sweat alot on my neoprene covers. Overall I love them though. People think they are factory seats. They don't even realize I have covers. And my seats look brand new under the covers.

I love my Bestop covers. Totally water proof. They get a little warm when exposed to the sun until you are sitting in them for a minute but no biggie.

If vinyl stays wet for to long it will discolor too. Although it is fairly easy to dry off.
