Weatherstrip for Rear Door

I replaced the rear door last night on my 97 rebuild that I have been working on all winter. The new door came painted but did not come with weatherstripping. I took the weatherstrip off the old one, but noticed it was attached to the doorby plastic strips that were glued to the old door surface. Could not remove them. Does anyone know if you buy an OEM weatherstrip does that plastic backing come with the strip or do you need to buy it seperately. If you need to buy iy, does anyone know where I could find it, I have struck out today looking in all of my usual sources. Thanks much.

Did a little surfing, it looks like the aftermarket ones are held on with double sided tape, instead of the retainers.

Looked in the factory parts manual, and they don't list any type retainer for the weatherstrip.
It maybe part of the factory tailgate, and if you got an aftermarket version it may not have it.

You may need to got the double sided tape route

Weatherstrip

Thank you. After you posted I found an aftermarket one that comes with the double stick tape that looks like it will work! Perfect.
