Angry Weird problem after motor change...

I replaced the motor in my 97 with a remanufactured 2.5 and finally got it started last week. I have what i think is a major grounding issue. I have gone through and removed all the grounds, sanded down the block, cleaned the connections, and it is still persisting. What's happening is that i'll be driving down the road, my tach and speedometer will drop to zero, and the motor will cut out. I got overly annoyed and added two 4g ground wires between the block and the frame to try and smooth everything out, and that didn't seem to work at all. Short of pulling the whole harness out and trying again, I'm completely stumped. So I ask of the o-wise ones, is there something I'm missing? Is the fix something that small and simple that I'm completely missing and overlooking it? PLEASE HELP!!

I would help but I am stumped by the problem. I wish I could give you a straight answer. Did you transfer the PCM that goes with that particular motor into your vehicle when you did the engine swap?

If you think its a ground problem, did you check the ground from the frame/ battery to the body?

I used the stock pcm. It was a refurbed motor from the zone, so i just swapped everything over.

If you mean the ground straps from the firewall to the motor, yes, i checked those a few times, took them off, sanded, retightened.

Sounds like a loose connector somewhere.
I'd double check every connection that was unplugged, especially the pcm.

My son replaced the radiator on his TJ two weeks ago and took it for a test drive and had the same thing happen on his 99 Sport. It happened once and has not done it again so will watch the post carefully. My TJ had a problem with the bus connector in the dash where all the gauges quit working but the engine continues to run. There are some great troubleshooters on this forum...they'll help I'm sure.

Im pretty sure it was a loose connection. I pulled the CKP and CMP out. The Crank sensor had some metal filings on it, so i wiped them all off, cleaned the terminal out and plugged it back in. Did the same with the cam sensor. All seems to be running great now.
