Weld the Old or Buy New?

Exhaust manifold/header for the 4.0- - Mine has a crack. The one on there now appears to be stainless.

I've seen the new design with the expansion sleeves on the end cylinders on ebay for about $80.

Which would you all opt for, the weld or the new? And is it a beeyatch to replace one of these?

Get the new one as the weld will just crack again.. not to bad to replace from what i have read.

Yep X2 on it just cracking again next to the welded repair. They break from engine torque flexing the header continually.

OK; kind of what I thought as well. Do these new ones with the expansion sleeves on each end help keep the unit from cracking?

Yes, those expansion sleeves that look like accordian joints were added specifically to fix the cracking problem.

How hard of a job is it? Does the intake have to come off?

A guy I know that works on Jeeps for $50/hour said it would be $200 to install a new one- -
