well ive decided

I've been debating getting a lift, new tires, and new rims for a while now and ive finally decided what im going to do. At first i wanted to go with a bb and 32's, but my stock wheels wont allow the use of 32's cause of the backspacing and i wouldnt have the money for new wheels along with a lift and tires and i have decided against using spacers.

Next i was going to get a bb and 31's because they will fit on stock rims, but then i realized if im just going to run 31's i might as well just put them on cause they'll fit stock, skip the bb, and save up for a 3.5 RE kit and 33's.

I just really want to get the 215/75/15's off my jeep and i figure putting on 31 inch bfg mt's will give me a little more clearence, more traction, much better looks, and will hold me over til i can afford the bigger lift and tires. I should be getting them in the next few week so i'll post some pics when they're on.

you don´t need new wheels for 32s and the 2" BB. you only have to add some wheel spacers. then you can use bigger tires without tire rubbing.

Iam in the same situation, and I have made the same decision. When my 30's are worn out I will install a set of 31's, probably a set of Cooper SST's. I just bought a new set of black Soft 8's, so Iam sure that I have enough clearance now. Scooby

Good to hear scooby, post some pics when its done.

And I understand i can use wheel spacers but i have 2 reasons for not going with the bb right now...the first is that id rather save up for a 3.5" RE kit and 33's, and the second is that i would rather not use wheel spacers...i understand you can get quality wheel spacers that bolt on to the axle that are safe but its just another thing i'll have to check on every couple thousand miles...

Overall i figure by just running 31's stock right now i can have a much better looking and wheeling jeep and save the money i would have spent on a bb, wheel spacers, and the extra cost of 32's and put it towards a 3.5" lift and 33's in the future

i say:

so it once do it right.

use your 215 tires until you have the money for the 3.5" RE AND the new wheels AND the 33s.

buying some 31s will be wasted money when you plan to intall 33s as fast as possible.

hahaha nicolas-eric you always give me a hard time about my decisions

But seriously the reason i am deciding to ditch the 215's and put on 31's is because the new 31's will be mt's and give me much better off road traction, they'll give me a little more clearance, and last but not least because i can finally get those tiny wimpy looking tires off my jeep

i know that´s a hard time with those small and funny looking stock tires.

but please think about the extra money you´ll have to spend if you do it in two steps (first 31s then later 33s). and it would take more time until you have the 33s. does that realy make sense...?

and 31s on stock wheels don´t look very good. the flares will be still wider than the tires.
you´ll need some 1.25" wheel spacers that it looks good.

here you can see my old TJ with 1.25" wheel spacers, stock rims and 30x9.5 tires:
http://runicon.de/viewer.php?albid=8...e=1&imgid=3976

without the wheel spacers the tires would have been too much under the fenders, that wouldn´t look good.

i know it'll cost me a little more initially, but i dont drive that many miles each year cause im in college so those tires should last me a solid two years if rotated properly, and they'll hold me over for my off road needs until i get out of college and get a good job, then the fun really begins once i start making a few $

And i found a picture of 31" bfg mt's on a stock jeep which made me decide to go with just 31's for now...it looks pretty good to me http://www.wayalife.com/wp-gallery2....&g2_itemId=167

oh sorry. i didn´t know that you are still in college and need some more time to save all the money for your "final" setup with the RE suspension and the 33s.
i thought you were talking about month and not about years until you buy the 33s.

btw you can run 32s on a stock TJ. that´s my TJ when i bought it last year:
http://runicon.de/viewer.php?albid=4...e=3&imgid=3534

(that are not the stock wheel, but they have a backspacing like stock wheels with 1.25" wheel spacers.)

thats how stock wheels with 32s and 2" BB will look:
http://runicon.de/viewer.php?albid=4...e=3&imgid=3597

why don´t you want spacers? are your stock springs old and sagged? with a BB (spacers and new shocks) the ride is better than stock.

haha no i plan on running 31" bfg mt's stock for at least a year minimum but probably more. 32's look good stock but off road it looks like i'll be rubbing all the time so i'll probably just stick to 31's. And the reason i dont want to run spacers is because ive heard alot of bad things about them, dont want the burden of having to constantly check them, and dont need the extra expense seeing as 31's will fit fine stock.

Another thing to look into would be the BB and a set of 32 x 10.50. If the 31's won't rub, then 32 10.50's shouldn't rub with a BB. It wouldn't cost much more at all and you will have a lift and the extra tire height!

nice idea. then you could run the 32" tire on the stock wheel and you could clear it on the jeep until you got a BB...as long as you stayed with mud or street until you got the BB

yeah but i do alot of trail riding...nothing too serious but there are lots of rocks, roots, and depending on the time of year mud...32x10.5's would be good but the BFG MT's arnt available in that size and im pretty much sold on that tire...

You won't find a standard 32x10.5 tire.. You'll come close with a P-metric but that would have to be on a 16" wheel. I'd look on your local craigslist and see if anyone is selling some 03-06 Rubicon wheels for cheap and then get the size of tire you want.

But really, you can't spend an extra $200 on some steel wheels with a better offset? You'll need something new when you go to 33's.
