Wenches??

Looking for a good wench for the money. Any suggestions for brands or models? I hear some say 4000lb is enough for a jeep and some say 8000lb.

8000-9000 range is what you need. I have run warn and ramsey both did fine. Warn does have rebate now...

I have a Warn M8000 and it's awesome. I would never trust my life, stuck Jeep or sanity to anything less.

Glad there are some others who are not too interested in wenches. I have never seen one that interested me.

Some Wenches seem like a good deal at first, but later you will realize you ended spending more on them than what you have into your Jeep. They are sneeky. I have been married to my wench for about 18 years. Expensive, but she has been pretty reliable.

Calm down dude. It's been covered a million times on every forum. Search function is really easy to use. It's not regurgitated, it's common knowledge. Don't get mad about it.

And the best answer I can give you to save you from looking it up would be to at least get an 8000 lb winch. Engo seems like the cheapest Chinese decent one out there. It gets good reviews. Most popular answer you will get is the Warn 8000. At least 3 people will tell you that " you get what you pay for", and the thread will eventually be closed after a political debate heats up. That about covers it.

You got your answer in the first few post, perhaps if you had checked your spelling before clicking post.

I've tried a couple of other forums, the "smartasses" are what keeps me coming back to this one. It's more fun.

Wench

or

winch

On a serious note.....
Honestly, I don't have one on my Jeep but I am thinking about it.

I will never be in a life or death, hanging off a cliff, stuck in a tree or up to my windshield in mud kind of moment, but it would be nice to have something there if I get a bit stuck and have no one around to help.
So I too don't want to spend a lot on a winch that will maybe get used twice a year.

I got one of Quadratec's catalogs in the mail the other day and saw this.
Quadratec Exclusive Q9000 - Quadratec Q9000 Self Recovery Winch - Quadratec

Are they any good or is it about the same as buying one at Harbor Freight?
