Cool Went from Hard to Soft: wife happy

We yanked the hard one & went topless for a couple days. Now we've put on the softie and I have to say that the factory soft tops have gotten so much better over the last 30 years. The last soft top I put on was on my friend's '76 CJ.

It's a toss up between the overall seal of the top & the use of hard doors as the biggest improvement. I remember those days of driving around with snow coming in between the top / windshield and blowing freely in through the bottom of the canvas doors. The faster we drove, the more the doors would gap at the bottom to let more snow in. And the heater / defroster in his CJ wasn't too great either. I would be scraping ice off the inside of the windshield while my friend was driving just so we could see!

The quality of this top is much better than the top I had in my Mustang convertible. Better material & much less noise. I can understand why people would opt not to have a hard top for their Jeep.

We are suppose to get some snow this weekend. I'll have to see how I feel about the softie with plastic windows & no rear defroster.

If you wouldn't have "yanked the hard one", you wouldn't have to worry about the white stuff!!!

I'm married. So of course, hers!

It was also the kid's first time riding in a convertible. He loves when the windows are down & it blows his hair around. With the top off, he was in hog heaven riding around back there! He didn't stop giggling the entire ride.

Life with a Jeep is good.

Well, it's hard again and the wife is happy. It was just the wife & me doing it which is just the bare minimum. It would be much better with 3 or 4 people.

She's happy now because it's less noisy and when she uses her cell phone she can actually hear the person she's talking with.

I prefer topless, but since it's getting cold again the wife complains - she insists on wearing a top now.
