What 4X4 Set up do I have?

I bought a 2003 wrangler with the 2.4 and 5 speed and I'm confused as to what 4x4 set up it has. It has lights for front and rear lockers in the dash, and I thought that was Rubicon only?

Thanks for all help!
Chris

They share a dash. You also probably have a place in the dash for full time 4x4 lights, but it isn't used either. Unless you have a Rubicon or lockers were added aftermarket you have part time 4x4 with open differentials front and rear.

Your axle lock lights come on in 4L? If so, then I have no clue.... You sure you have a 2.4L? Do you have an axle lock switch on the dash? Someone smarter than me will see this and straighten us out soon, I'm sure...

Yeah, the lights come on in 4L, and I'm positive it's a 2.4.I don't have an axle lock switch, Could be a wiring issue.

The 4x4 light was designed to be on when the transfer case is in either 4Hi or 4Lo.

Sounds like someone jacked with the wiring, neither of those two lights are ever supposed to come on with your model TJ.

I would say its a connections problem behind the dash.

Thanks for the help! I figured it was wiring. to be clear, the lockers were for rubicon only, there was never any special orders?

Nope, lockers are standard on Rubicons and not available for any other Jeep even by special order.

unless the previous owner went to a junk yard and yanked some rubicon axles, my guess would be a wiring issue

Also the 2.4 is not available in the Rubicon model, its 4.0 only. If you posted a pic of the dash so people could see or the area where the swtiches are it would be easier to help.

Also check the front and /or rear axle, there should be a relay plug on the axle housing and also a air tube going into the housing in the top dirver side corner of the front axle.

You could also check to see what t-case is in it, by looking underneath and there should be a plate or stamp on the t-case
