Probably cheaper and easier to swap a D30/35 combo from a 4 cylinder TJ....If you can find them.

Swap out your axles for a F8.8 and 4cyl manual trans TJ or XJ D30

Thats what I would do if you want 4.10/4.11's

Rustys Offroad: Rusty's Gear Special (D30/35 Combo)

If you get this you'll be all set.

Just saved that link to my favorites for when I upgrade my gears. It might be cheaper to get 4cyl axles or bigger and better axles, but my buddy can do re-gear jobs. All I pretty much have to give him is some food, beer and I usually give him some cash for his time. Also pending how great your axle condition is you might be want to pick up a different set so you can sandblast and paint them. Up to you, you might be able to find a set for pretty cheap, do some shopping and see what comes up.

Do you have any idea what tools and other items it takes to regear, it's not a remove and replace job. If you never did one you need someone to help you who has.

You do know you should never attempt to regear an axle unless your a experienced mechanic with training in regearing axles? If you aren't that take it to a shop to make sure it's done right or if it's an option do it with a friend who has done this job manny times before successfully..

I agree, may be cheaper to swap out rear axle with a 4.10/4.11 gear.

I worked in a dealer maintenance shop for 13 years, if you are not experienced in re-gearing you will never be able to do it w/o some who is.

Never done it? DON'T!! Unless you have someone over your shoulder who has done more than just a few.. you want experience and knowledge and PROPER precision tools on hand to do it right...

i have someone to do it..i just have to get the parts. I've looked into swapping from a 4cyl but my rears don't have high mileage..have new seals and are in great shape...around here guys are selling 4.10 sets for $800...i'd rather regear my rears and not have to do alignment or other repairs to used rears i know nothing about. That Rusty's site looks like a good deal..i think the only other thing i would need is a carrier for the 30?
