A good place to start is a wiring diagram similar to this:

As far as materials needed.....wire, fuse/fuse holder, relay, switch, and assorted terminals.

for an "electrical challenged" individual... that would be me... could you explain where you have to connect the "white.. hi/low/ign" in the jeep... is there an existing cable available with the 3amp fuse already or you have to install a new one?... where? ... rest of the diagram is clear

You could connect it directly to the positive terminal on the battery and be able to turn them on and off any time you wanted, or you could do like I did and connect it to the high beam wire behind the driver's side headlight so they can only be turned on when the high beams are on. They sell a kit at Autozone and similar places that has the relay, switch, and wiring included. IMO, the wiring included is very small gauge and not long enough to be able to do a good job of hiding the wiring. My suggestion would be to pick up the relay at Radio Shack and use heavier gauge wiring.

Pep boys carries an aux light wiring kit for about $10 comes with wire, relay, switch and online fuse it's identical to the kc light wiring kit and located with the electrical components and near the aux lighting kits.
