What are the best modifications you have made?

Hello,

I just bought a 2006 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited and am very interested in modifying it. I want to put on some running boards or something that will work as a step for my wife. I am also planning on installing a locking gas cap but have not decided on which one to get. So far I have only replaced the factory stereo.

What are the best modifications you guys have made?

old school chameleon cd player... they stopped making them a while back but i love it too much to get rid of it
2'' lift
31'' tires
teal maple leaf air freshener hanging on rear view
hell i dont know bro its all about what you can spend

as far as the sides... ive read alot about them here... and it seems that getting something welded on is your best bet. no drilling into the frame, and no worrying about them coming loose.

i would get rock crawler side armor and just tell her theyre side steps. she wont know the difference lol.

^ i used to have a chameleon cd player

i sure wish i could do those chrome valve caps on my tires, those are sweet kidding

as far as steps, avoid the ones that use the body mounts, unless you never plan to wheel it, and it is street only, then they're fine. otherwise the rock sliders and stuff are great.

I have a YJ, so the best mod I made was free...removing the tracbar. The lift is coming, and I trimmed my fender flares. I like all of them.

visor switch, fog light mod, MP3 compatablity, Seat risers. Seriously, I appreciate these everyday. I'm also happy with lift for 33s, new bumpers, winch......
Look at Detours Drop Kick Sliders instead of regular running boards. They combine a step with protection

Seat riser kit on Ebay. Aluminum spacers and longer bolts. 3 different heights avail. $25ish?

It's been almost a year since I put them on

You can kind of see them in this pic(silver).
Also note the the Detours slider/step

Well as you can see i lifted the rear of the seat mainly to even it out. I didnt like how the seat had too much of an angle on it so i lifted the rear of it mainly and then lifted the front just a tiny bit. Its about fitting inside your jeep right. Its about making it comfortable to your self just like you move your seat forward and backwards.

i see, i see.

maybe if mine didnt sit an inch and a half lower in the front my seats would feel weird.. i dunno i guess i havent driven it enough to tell yet. ive put 50 miles on it since ive owned it, 30 of which were bringing it home lol.

once i get it inspected i bet im gonna go crazy trying to figure out if my seat would feel better lifted now.

im still pissed theres no tilt wheel

Mine tilts haha! The seat thing. I don't like feeling as if I am sliding to the pedals. When you add the the spacers it evens it out and I am going to make mine ride a little high in the front.

WOW ok glad to know im not the only one! I bought my TJ and the first time I got in it I started looking for a handle to crank the seat up! Im 6' tall and every time i first get in it after driving my car for awhile i still feel like im sitting on the floor. I was like... How do women drive one of these, seriously do the sit on a book? think thats my next mod to mine.

I'd be leery of the bolt and nut riser. They possibly might fold in an accident.

My seat risers were purely so I could see over the dash... now I can't reach the gas.

I thought so too but they seem strong enough to where they dont even flex. After all i'm only 140lb so.. Also you could use pucks from a body lift.

hehe try doing what i did. Install smaller spacers in front. If not, you are stuck with the 6" platform shoes.
