what are these?

i was messing with the vacuum hoses in the engine compartment.. trying to figure out why my heater is defrost only, and everything seems fine.

so i got under the dash and found these four vacuum hose looking things. at first i thought they were speaker wire, because they are colored.. red,blue,yellow.. but then i noticed these vacuum looking actuator type deals.. the metal deals .. and they had nothing hooked up to them.
theres three hoses, red/blue/yellow that are together.. then theres a short red one.

the metal deals.. the one closest to the drivers side has 2 places for vacuum hose hookups. the other one has one. thought maybe thats where these three lines are supposed to go. then theres one up top that looks like the short red one would go there.

anybody know what the hells going on here?

also, saw a weird connector that isnt hooked up to anything. dont know what it is either.

thanks!

this show pretty much all of it. and you can see the black connector thing in the bottom left of the pic.

better pic of the black connector

the connector i'm not sure, but the colored hoses are vacuum lines for the heater controls. the metal looking thingy's are the actuators, and they are supposed to have those lines plugged into them. when you switch the heater controls, it moves the vacuum to the different actuators to direct the heat to the floor, vent, or defrost. no vacuum defaults to defrost. thus your heater is stuck on defrost

they should line up pretty well like you're saying, put them where they look like they go, and it should be fine. if they're mixed up you'll know, the vent will be on the floor or something.

Jp your correct - I need to plug mine in too. The connector you see I think it is for the mech to hook there computer up too it. The antenna line is just a plug in (single) prong I think.

ok just randomly plugged them into where i thought they would fit.. and i now can actually hear the blend door doing its thing when i switch modes. YAY!

they arent hooked up right, and im only getting either defrost, defrost/floor, or floor... but i can tweak it tomorrow.

thanks so much!

yeah rep is like a little deal on most forums where people can add negatively or positively to your rep (reputation) by clicking on a little img of a scale on your post. usually if you help people out alot, you get alot of rep, and its just a cool little add-on i guess.

theres also trader rep, where people can rate you positively or negatively based on items you sell or buy in the for sale threads. this can be helpful when your leary about dealing with someone on a forum you dont know. if they are highly rated by others in the forum on rep, and have great trader rep, have no fear!
