what are these plugs for?

I have some plugs in my glove box and i always figured they were for the drains under the floor mats in the front. (2 plugs)

well i pulled out the floor mats and got as much carpet up as i could (seemed glues down or something) and found that it already had drain plugs installed (same kind of plugs as my spares)

i was only able to get the carpet off enough to see one drain plug on each side. is there maybe another drain hole i did not see?

what could these extra 2 plugs be for? i dont want water in anything.

but the extra plugs are the same plugs that are in the floor drains, if that helps.

IIRC, there are two in each front floor pan, and one in each rear, the rear being the lowest point.

You also have two in front of the rear seat, that is the same size as the ones in the front!

My TJ has only two rubber plugs up front, one on each side. None in the rear either. Its a 97 though, so maybe things changed later on.

There are some on top of the wheel wells in mine, I think.... I'll look tomorrow. I know I replaced more than 4 when I had it lined.

Aside from the rubber plugs there are also metal plugs that are sort of oval shaped.
They are a little harder to remove.

hmm, well i try to look around tomoroow, my carpet is a bit stubborn.
Im just worried about small amounts of water getting in and start to rust the floor.

so far its in perfect shape under the carpet from the few peaks i took.
