They don't really do it for me. On the same link, there is 'A/T Rock Rails Guards' under the main pic. That's what I'd be looking at. But hey, it's your Jeep. The best part is whatever you get will be right (for you).

Depends on what you want them for? If you want real protection against rocks, frame mounter rails are not going to do it. The get pushed up into the tub. If you are looking for a step that is something a little different, well I guess they fit the bill. They are a bit stronger than tube side steps.

FYI if it is what you want, there is a set on ebay JEEP TJ ROCK RAILS ,rocker guards : eBay Motors (item 280585546950 end time Nov-13-10 06:50:12 PST)
2003 TJ, 33" BFG AT, 2" BL, 2" BDS spring lift, Truck Lite headlights, Homemade sunrider top.

I went with Body Armor guards and I really like them. I haven't bashed them on rocks but the extra bar on the outside certainly protects against door dings in parking lots since it sticks out a bit and it can be used as a step. Plus, their affordable and an easy install. Body Armor TJ-4121 - Body Armor Rockcrawler Side Guards for 76-06 Jeep® CJ-7 Wrangler YJ,TJ & Unlimited - Quadratec

Agree with the above that frame mounted bars can get pushed up into the tub. If you want some serious ^ss protection look into Poison Spyder Ricochets.
