Jerry, we had several CJ's when I was growing up, but I've never been in one as an adult. How do they compare to a TJ as far as belly room. Fat boys like me have to think about things like that. I'd love to have a CJ, but I wonder how much room is in a CJ7, for instance.

Hard to believe we had a CJ-5 as the sole family vehicle at one point, but we did.

I haven't actually sat in a CJ5 in months but I seem to recall my friend's CJ5 having more clearance between me and the dash than my TJ does.

Not Jerry and don't claim to have the knowlage he does........... As far as room.... CJ 2-3 not alot of belly room, CJ 5 more room but not TJ'esque CJ 7-8 more belly room just a bout like a TJ.

I miss both my CJ 5 and 7. I also miss my YJ. But, I could never go back to leaf springs.

There's the man to trust on this. I always just feel like there is so much plastic and a big dashboard in the TJ that the CJ5 always felt more open to me.

TJ's have more dash, but the older CJ's had the fixed steering wheel.... I am not sure if a CJ 5 came with a tilt wheel ever but I know the 7's and 8's did. Thats what I am basing the belly room on. As far as the harsh ride you can always remove a leaf from the springs for a smoother ride. LOL
