what do you think

Cars For Sale: Car Details - AutoTrader.com

is this doable for a project. my buddy wants something to drive part time for winters and mild 4 wheeling.

i know i would have to check for the frame to be straight and no drivetrain issues. but is it a good price for a project if all it needs is the hood fenders grill and bumper to make it driveable.

i have wheels tires etc i can always throw his way.

I'd think so - as long as the frame isn't toast its deffinatly buildable to a weekend warrior. Forget replacing the fenders with OEM ones, get some tube fenders. ANd from the looks, a new windshield fram as well. And maybe a new radiator seeing as how the grill is smashed.

I would say definitely yeah. The next one I buy will be wrecked in the front. A guy I work with just bought an 06 hit in the front. It needs a Motor Mount, so why not go ahead and install a BL and MML. It needs 2 front fenders and flares, so why not save money and go with tubes. You are just replacing stuff you would like to anyway so why not get it ofr about 1/2 the price and throw away junk instead of good parts?? All else that he needs is a hood, and radiator and condensor. Sounds like a good time to upgrade that raditaor huh??

Not to bad, as long as the engine, drivetrain and frame are good. My friend bought a 05 rubi with a 4 in. lift that was rolled and had similar damage for 10 grand. Took us a weekend to swap the parts out, and now I'm a bit jealous. I would even try to talk them down to a even 3500 if possible.

Looks like it would be a lot of fun! Great project! Make sure to check the Transfer case (unless you were planning on replacing soon) to make sure the impact didn't drive the front driveshaft back hard enough to damage/crack it. Other than that, if the frame's straight, go for it!

It hurts my soul to see a Jeep like that in a junkyard. I agree with everything that's been said so far. Go for it assuming everything checks out. Also, though this hasn't been brought up, what's the title say? Sometimes you can get a title cleared if it's been fixed correctly and examined by a state licensed motor vehicle inspector. It depends on what state you're in, though. Also keep in mind that it's hard to sell a vehicle with a rebuilt or totalled title history. But the price seems right, especially if the drivetrain is all good.
Just some feedback.....
