Bought a new opda since my engine started sounding like a barrel full of laughing monkeys... $138 (tax included) with my discount straight from the dealer. Installing this tomorrow or this weekend.

Bought a new coolant temp sensor and am putting it on later today when the engine cools down or tomorrow during work.

Had a crazy squeak in the rear of my TJ....found exhaust hanger moving back and forth WD 40 stopped the squeak but Brkt is looking a little worn. I jumped on bumper never could reproduce so I had to get down there and push pipe side to side to recreate! Next repair is identified....ugh!

Lol, not just for aquariums:-) U.S. Navy diver here, and my diving forefathers used the MK-V, an emblem we also use to signify our rate. :-)

Played around a bit more today, came up with a solution for rain without having to put the top up/haul doors down a few floors. 8'x10' tarp, with the 10' running door-to-door and across the dash. A small S-hook and bungee cord keep it held against the dash (although it almost stays there on its own due to tension from the sides). There's two bolt&wingnut setups on each side, using the rock slider attachment points, which hold the tarp down outside the doors, and a couple bungee cords secure the back of the tarp to the tub. It's pretty quick to put on and take off, and provides more rain resistance where I need it (seats, dash, and steering wheel) than putting just the top up does. Rolls up nice & compact, too.

I feel like the current set up is going to be problematic though: huge surface area will be draining over the dash. I'm going to mess with it some more tomorrow, see if I can't fold the seats or something to make it slope away from the dash. There's nowhere near enough slack to fasten it near the top of the windshield, and if I go for a larger tarp, I'll have too much slack which will be a problem in the wind.

Yea lay both seats forward.... I wouldn't want all that water running forward

I just got a big enough tarp that it covers the whole cab, goes over the rollcage and down to the top of the fender flares, and over the whole windshield, folds up and fits in the pocket behind the passenger seat with a half dozen bungee cords.

Woke up this morning and it was raining..... then realized I left the top down! So I threw the top on and waited for it to stop raining and then pulled out the carpet, drain plugs, center console, seat covers and back seat. Then soaked up any remaining water vacuumed it and let it dry some more put everything back in and it was cleaner than before and good as new

Gotta get a new clutch, so probably going to head to 4WP and cancel my order on the OR-Fab Tire Carrier I ordered like 3 weeks ago since I can't really afford both. So I guess it's a blessing in disguise that the damn thing never showed up.

What clutches do people recommend. I did a little research and it looks like LuK is pretty much the top recommendation for Jeeps. Is there a huge difference between the regular kit and the Gold one? (other then about $80 in price)

Think of it as mother nature telling you your interior was dirty and it was time to clean it
I've been there but I got caught in a torrential downpour, I broke out the steam cleaner and sucked all of the water out of the seats.

http://www.wranglerforum.com/f5/a-ba...da-164810.html

^^^ Started a thread the other day about it... granted there are a ton of threads out there on Jeepforum and others, but figured I'd document some of my findings esp with the dealer. At the present moment, Chrysler knows about it (also started a case with them today) and may or may not cover it, the part came in, I'm going to take all my findings and TSB letter to the dealership and see what they say to me in person... so far they've told me to go kick sand.

The main thing are the symptoms I found on other forum...
Quote:
Symptoms Include:
Ticking
Squeeking/Squealing (especially at startup)
Long Cranks to Start
Low/Rough Idle
I fer shur have the middle two... noticed the long crank about 5-7 days ago and figured it was the battery or something of that nature, but then the laughing monkey made his voice known and now it all makes sense. Funny part is I was looking into this issue a few weeks ago and thought I was in the all clear and good to go category... guess I was wrong...
