When I bought my TJ this summer, there were only five screws holding the hard top. The one by the front sport bar was missing and, silly me, I wanted to make things right. First visit to the dealer, they had screws in stock but no nut, which I ordered. Second visit the nut was in, but had sold out of screws the day before. Order the screw and go for a third visit. They now had the screw but couldn't find the nut they had the other day. By the fourth visit, they finally had both.
They also had the bill: $9.25 for the nut, $8.10 for the screw. Plus 13% sales tax made a total of $19.61.

If I had known I would have had to pay this much for hardware at a dealer, I would have gotten a Porsche!

Well, don't feel bad your not the only "nut" who got "screwed" at the dealer!

Wait, if you ever do a lift and have to replace you LCA cam bolts. Every auto parts store I called said, "nope, dealer item". And, when I got there they needed my VIN to match up the right set, which I didn't have with me cuz my Jeep was back at the garage with the front axle hanging off!

Cam bolt (2) $31.80
Nut (2) $ 6.00
Cam washer (2) $31.88
Tax $4.36
Total screwing $74.04 !

Regular 3/8 bolts, nuts and washers work pretty well. For about $5 you can replace all 6

When I bought my jeep from a dealership it was not until I got home that I realized the hard top had no bolts at all holding it in place, something you would assume the dealer would check for, but luckily had some spare bolts to take care of it

Checked and topped off all fluids and general look over to make sure it's ready for the run this sat. Now just load the tools and cooler then on the trailer it goes.

I bought it

06 X 6 speed with 88k and cleanest TJ I could find. Almost zero rust and the few pin size spots on the frame the dealer spray painted them, with 5 new tires and best price I could find. Should be doing diff fluids, tranny, t case, coolant, and plugs tomorrow. Will also check out brakes, the fluid and drums.

Did you have to do any realignment for the ring and pinion since you took the whole housing out

No, just kept all parts marked and placed in the original configuration. Aussie makes it pretty simple, I took my time and replaced inner axle seals as well as pulling out the coils to repaint them. Took me about six hours start to finish and that's with my broken wrist in a cast! I did tape off the spyder last night so all I did was spray it and let it dry while working.

Yep, those certainly would have worked. So much for not spending a little more time Google searching ! Bookmarked for future reference!

Tested out that new front locker with my girls. What a difference. You can feel the pull and it climbed right up steep rocks with no slip. Didn't even lower air pressure. Moderate stuff today then I'll check it out and make sure she's ready for a ocotillo or big bear run.
