Thumbs up Jute Carpet Padding

Lined the Jeep with jute carpet padding.

It has made a world of difference. Don't get me wrong, it's still a loud vehicle BUT relatively speaking it's silent...

well i went to badlands in indiana and it was lost of fun. i will get pics when i can. but i did not get any damage until i went on the night trail ride i bent my driver side front fender and dented up my driver rocker more and bent my driver side rear corner in and detroyed the lic plate. then went home and the next day i went again but before i went i put my new cable in and then went to badlands again where i bent both my front upper control arms real bad and then got in a water hole that had water in the jeep and then got stuck and had to use the new winch cable and i think i shorted my pass. side fog light out. and i busted my driver side fog light lens

so my lesson i learned.
but strong replacement parts
and body armor

A lilttle work for me this weekend

So Saturday I decided to a quick couple jobs on the TJ. I cahnged the spark plugs, added an OME Steering Stablizer and changed out the front and rear bumpers. Went with the Best Top HighRock 4x4 bumpers front and back. Winch is on order and I will be getting some new fog lights to mount next week. Just need my lift kit to come in the mail.

Fun parts. Getting the old Steering stabilizer off was a challenege. You def need a big hammer!!

Taking off the trailer hitch also require my imapct gun to get the old bolts to break loose.

On the bumpers....they are pretty heavy and not super easy to hold alone. The real pain was the fact the the frame in the rear and in the front were discolored so I had to paint them before I could finsih the install. I also went ahead and painted the exhaust with High Heat paint as well. It was looking worn.

Also the front bumper used the existing hardware. So I had to paint all the star and other bolts flat black so they would blend in the new bumpers. Check the pics there are before, during, and after.

Thanks Slacksuperstar,

I spent a couple of hours at our local pull-a-part and found combinations that I wasn't interested in like: compass and no temp, temp and no compass, reading lights and no compass or temp . It was frustrating but educational. I'm going to be on the lookout for the Gentex 177 (I believe) that has the dual display of compass and temperature. I found a couple of 177's with compass only. I guess I just need to be patient or search ebay.

I put my new soft top on this weekend.

Last year I put a new top on, and noticed this summer that the stitching/seams were starting to pull. Thanks to this board, I found out it was under warranty, and I had the replacement shipped out.

I had a buddy put my top on last year, and paid him $50 to help. This year I decided to do it myself, and thanks to a Quadratec video on YouTube , I got it done in just over an hour (with about 15 minutes of that spent on the ground trying to find a screw I had dropped).

Top is on, tight as a drum, and so far no pulling!

I love this Forum.

I got lucky the mirror and sensor were freebies i only paid for the wire.

Be on the lookout for a 02 chevy truck, trail blazer or a cadillac deville (pre onstar) they have the mirror that i used.
