I had a York on-board air system before I installed my supercharger, which mounts right where that compressor was. I used a 2.5 gal Viair tank that is mounted behind the back seat. You will need to buy a pressure switch and a back-flow valve for installation. Google on-board air systems and it will give you a good idea of what you need. I,m thinking of mounting the Smitty compressor where my stock air box was. I'll post pics when I'm done.

Yeah, Ive read and read and read about on board air set ups and honestly had just given up on air at all till I saw this pump. Its just to expensive to do it right most of the time.

There is a member on here selling the Viair 2.5 I was thinking about it but I dont wanna put it behind my seat. Hmmmm.

Ive read some reviews about the pump we ordered not having standard lines and fittings. Going to give you issues running it to the tank?

The fittings they use are proprietary, but coming out of the compressor is either 1/4 or 3/8 pipe. You will have to adapt to your air tank with new fittings and air line. Totally do-able.

Smitty makes a 2.5 that comes with everything for like 50, maybe Ill just get that. Shouldnt need to change anything then.

Ill have to check it out when the compressor gets here I guess.

You will still need to buy a check valve, pressure switch, relay, and rocker switch if you want to operate it from your cab.

Unless you are running air lockers or using air tools on the trail, why not just use it as it was designed. You don't need an air tank to air up your tires.

I have never used air tools on the trail yet, but thought Id do it just cuz. I think for now Ill use it as designed and continue my search for a an older 80s ford york ac unit and dive into the BIG project when Im ready.

Taped her up

Added a lil spray protection...

After spraying, completed look.

And then would you believe it if I told you I went to get a steak, and in the middle of town I got attacked by some mud?

I was just as surprised as the lil girl in the honda staring at me haha Crazy evening. But interesting for sure!

I think smittys site says like 20 or 25ft of hose included. Sounds like any where really should reach.

X2 ! I've had a similar 30A hi-volume compressor mounted in my Jeep for the last 5 years. No storage tank, just use it direct for airing up. It takes a little over a minute to air up each of my 33's from 12 psi to 29 psi.

Fit perfect in the tray under the brake booster. Relayed the switch to the cab, and ran a 3' air line into the cab thru the rubber gromet in the firewall next to the tranny tunnel. I terminated the line to an OPEN (male) quick connect mounted under the dash.

I keep a 20' spring coil air hose under my drivers seat and can reach all four tires and the spare by going out either the drivers or pass door.

Switch beside the air hose connector is for the compressor.

That's where I planned on mounting mine. Was going to split the lines and do one front, one back or some where outside tho.

Took it in to get a 5 tire rotation, inspect the brakes, and a clunk that happens when i stop. Brakes are fine but turns out i need all the control arms and bushings replaced. Kinda figured thats what it was. Guess i know what my tax return is going towards!

I didn't want to do an outside mount using an male (open) fitting, for fear that it would get clogged with mud, ice, snow etc. I only used the open fitting because using a closed (female) coupler blows the fuse in an instant should the compressor accidently get switched on (which has happened). There's no storage or head pressure unloader on these so if the air line is fully closed it overheats in no time and pops the fuse.
