Re: What I did to my TJ today

Doors got a coat of paint and my paracord wrapped my handles. Waiting on a nice couple days to pull the doors, give them a few more coats of green and them clear. I can't decide which green to go with. The speakers and dash panels are a darker olive and the door is lighter green. I figured I would drive around awhile and see which I like better.

And I installed tow hooks on the front.

I can't afford an expensive set up like currie either, reason I'm sitting stock height, my opinion is, why spend 500 on a lift that is not completely worth it, instead save up and buy a lift you can be completely happy with. It takes patience, a virtue I can't say I have, but when it comes to the jeep, it's do it right once, otherwise it's more expensive to do it multiple times.

Front right tire started shaking after hitting bumps this morning. Took it by the shop and they determined I need to replace the track bar. Wanting to put the currie linkage under it since I'll be under there anyway. My question is, "Do I have a drop pitman arm"

Bummer, all I've read suggest that I rid the jeep of this. Guessing I put a sock arm back on, the currie linkage would work better. Oh, and thank you for the pic

Wink It was a good Sunday for me and the TJ

Had a friend over to help install new Bilstien 5100 shocks on my 97 TJ. We put in daystar 2 inch spacers on the front and removed the stock coil spring isolators for a 1.5 inch lift. We put on the Daystar 1 inch helix coil spring spacers on the rear and left the very thin stock spring isolator in place for about a 1.25 inch lift in the rear. She's and old girl so the springs were really sacked out. I was given a full set of "Rubicon Springs" and installed them at the same time. The springs were the same factory specs except two designations stiffer than the ones I removed. Getting rid of the sacked springs added another inch plus of lift to get it back to where it should be. Rides great. The job took about 5 hours with no rush. The hardest part was putting the bump stops in from Daystar in the front. I beat, pushed and twisted to no avail. When I put the brain to work I set a jackstand about 1 ft away from the bump stop location and used a 6 ft pry bar to push them in effortlessly. I was alomost ready to give up. Think it's the best way if you have a long pinch bar. Now, what's next? Replace my hardtop with a softop for Jeep Beach?

And another thing....my 31x10.50 tires dont rub any more on a regular, illegal u turn....I wish every day could be a Jeep Sunday....

Today I tapped the rear because its going to rain and I don't want to put the top back on. I also ordered my RC 3.75 inch lift. I'm going to be busy next week! Stock TJ w/ stock tires adding 31s w/ a 3.75 inch combo lift us going to be fun.

Yeah. Sounds great. 33's and a new diff front and rear to carry them or at least new gearing. Lift kit so they don't rub.....OMG. Know what you are getting into. It's like a woman, you can't quit giving to stay at the level you set at the beginning.

Been a busy week for my new to me Tj.

Picked up some 2nd hand pro comp wheels and 31in duratracs.
Installed a 2.5 in lift
Plasti dipped rear bumper
Removed the silver and blue pin stripe
Made a trunk out of plywood and covered it in outdoor fabric
Mounted a shovel to it today

Thinking about ordering a new bumper, engo winch, and new exhaust tomorrow!

Well short on $ . Going to buy track bar, new quick disconnects for front sway, and now a stock pitman arm. The currie linkage will have to come later. Going to put a zj tie rod for now since I don't get to wheel the pavement puppy much these days

The only wires I have run along under the door entry and they are all in a loom.
