Hand Salute

I traded my LJ in for a 4 door JK today. Bitter Sweet. I had real feelings for my LJ and would have married it if Man/Jeep marriage were recognized by the Supreme Court. But hey my engine has more HP now instead of being bullet proof.

Tomorrow she gets washed. And more pictures. I hate pollen.
When not using the light bar to light up the night sky you can give people a tan. That thing is awesome!

Was looking forward to posting about my new aux fuse box, hella relay box, 4 in-dash switches (1 is for fuse #4 defeat), and KC fogs. But instead I'll just say that I spent 9 hours working on the Jeep and save the results until I finish tomorrow.

Lot's of these moments today: But each time the wall eventually fell.

Took a few more pics tonight. Still didn't wash the pollen off her yet.

With the light reflecting off the garage door you can see my new Warn winch and bumper.

Had a busy day today. I got a new Dewalt Driver and Drill set from Home Depot so I had to test it out. I removed the rear bumper and hitch so I could get rid of some surface rust. I sanded it down, primed, and painted it and it looks great. Makes me want to do the rest of the frame. Then I got my new axe mounted to the tailgate. After that I decided to check under the rocker guards for rust and I got good news, no rust!

Before

Sanded down

Masked off

Primed

Painted

New Axe

Rockers off

Well I discovered my rampage frameless holds up ok in light rain. However, has been defeated in heavy rain. Discovered good sized puddles in my floorboard. So today I soaked up water from the carpet. Another reason to bed line

They are lower control arm skid plates. These will help reduce damage by reinforcing the LCA brackets.

Correct. No rattles at all. Probably the best $20 I have spent on the Jeep yet.

I got inspired to install one item on my huge pile of parts waiting to be installed… this one was pretty easy as I had the right tools…
OME Steeling Stabilizer. The old one was a pro-comp that I’ll end up selling off as it worked fine, but I just got the bug to upgrade it.
Was it a necessary upgrade – No.
Can I tell a difference – Oh yeah… much firmer steering…

I trimmed down a seat cushion I got at Wal-mart in the Sporting Goods section (i think it was intended to be used in tree stands while hunting), then cut a piece of thin wall panelling we had laying around and used some two sided tape to hold those two together.

Then took an old t-shirt, trimmed it to size and stapled the edges underneath with a staple gun.

Finished it off with some Velcro on the bottom to stick it on the console.

Finished the install of KC Fogs.

Tried to be proactive - installed three dash switches, one for the fogs and two for accessories to be added later - driving lights and rear lighting are on the list. Wired the fog switch into the tail light circuit to comply with VA law. All switches are wired and powered, all the way to the relay box.

While I was under the dash I spliced into the ground for fuse #4 and installed a switch to defeat the door alarm and dome lights - ready for doorless days!

Also on the proactive side, installed a Painless 7 circuit fuse box and Hella relay box - again, for those accessories to be added later.

Finally, I washed the Harley, which should be dry by now. So off for a ride.

Went to the fair and parked on the side of the hill. A car was trying park there but couldn't make it because it was muddy and they were sliding. They pulled away and went to find a new spot and I pulled right in with no problem!

Finally got my ZJ tie rod installed. I was going to do it myself but I don't have a pickle fork and I needed my alignment done anyways so I called a local shop and they did the install and alignment all for $80. Worth it for me and I love the improvement already.
